The Manure Rake:
1. Manure rakes are long. This puts more pressure on the arm muscles and tendons of the user. There is a type of tendonitis called manure elbow.
2. Because it is a single rail, the manure rake handle forces the users’ arm muscles to function in a shortened position.
3. Throwing debris is difficult when the arm muscles are shortened. This results in a shorter range. This also makes it more uncomfortable to dump the debris.
4. Because of the single rail, it is more difficult to push the manure rake when pushing to pick up debris.
The NicGrip Manure Rake:
1. While still long, the NicGrip manure rake allows the user to lift loads more easily. The horizontal handle and the wide open handle provide better leverage which takes pressure off of the tendons.
2. The NicGrip handles keep the arms in relaxed positions. This lessens the strain on the muscles.
3. Because of the arms’ positions, it is easier to throw debris. There is a wider area and a more relaxed motion, increasing range and allowing for a more comfortable dumping movement.
4. The two-rail design allows for a more consistent, powerful plowing motion to move debris.
The NicGrip handle mitigates the problems leading to this injury. The video shows people's reactions as they try the normal manure rake and a NicGrip handle. They also tried a NicGrip handled shovel to lift heavy loads out of a stall versus using a conventional mucking shovel.
The results show a clear preference for NicGrip technology.
