ORDINARY SNOW SHOVEL:
1. The design forces the user to lift with the lower back, not the legs. This is because the forward arm grips the handle close to the blade, creating an awkward center of gravity.
2. The single rail(handle) eventually becomes an unstable pivot point when pushing snow. The user cannot plow snow, only push it a short distance.
3. When a hard obstacle is encountered, like a piece of ice stuck to the driveway, the user cannot kick the shovel to dislodge it. This is because the force of the kick is off center. The handle is in the middle of the shovel.
4.The top handle is small and difficult to grasp.
5.To throw a load the forward arm is tightened because of it grip position. Throws are short, uncomfortable, and inefficient.
THE NICGRIP SNOW SHOVEL:
1.The NicGrip handle incorporates a horizontal handle. Its position changes the center of gravity of the body, allowing lifting to be done with the legs, not the back.
2. The two rails attached to the snow shovel blade actually creates a shovel that plows, not just pushes. This is shown in the videos. It makes pushing easier and much more efficient.
3.When a hard obstacle is encountered, the user can kick the center of the blade, between the two rails, and dislodge the impediment.
4.The top of the handle is wide and easy to grasp. This means pushing and throwing are more comfortable.
5.Throwing is more comfortable because the forward arm is in a naturally relaxed position, as it holds the horizontal handle.
The NicGrip snow shovel actually plows snow, not just pushes it. Here are side by side comparisons with a conventional snow shovel lifting, throwing, and kicking ice.
The Nicgrip handle is superior in all areas.
This video was shot in an actual snow storm. It shows how a conventional snow shovel works versus a NicGrip shovel. It includes a narration with explanations.
