My name is Ken Nicolay and I invented the NicGrip handle. Where did the ideas for the two rails and the horizontal handle come from? I have studied martial arts for many years. One common theme among the arts and my instructors resonated. When I asked them to tell me how I knew if I was doing something correctly, they would respond that I would feel nothing in the  movement. I began noticing how much it hurt to do common jobs, such as shoveling snow and rolling paint. I began experimenting with positions where the pain or discomfort disappeared while doing the work. The designs came from that research. Each step, from using two rails to the horizontal handle, solved a problem in the simplest way possible.
